Azamara Club Cruises, now known simply as Azamara, was launched in 2007 as a boutique luxury cruise line under the umbrella of Royal Caribbean Group. It began with two mid-sized ships—Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest—with a vision to offer a more immersive and destination-focused travel experience. In 2021, Azamara was sold to Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm, enabling the brand to grow independently and enhance its core offerings.
Azamara specializes in destination immersion, setting itself apart by offering longer port stays, more overnight calls, and exclusive shore excursions called AzAmazing Evenings, which highlight local culture and entertainment. Its fleet of four intimate ships—Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, Azamara Pursuit, and the newest addition, Azamara Onward—caters to around 700 guests each, providing a relaxed yet elegant onboard atmosphere. The ships are small enough to dock at lesser-known ports that larger vessels cannot access, allowing guests to explore unique, off-the-beaten-path destinations. Onboard, the experience is refined yet casual, with a strong emphasis on personalized service, fine dining, and inclusive amenities such as select beverages, gratuities, and shuttle services in port.
