AMA Waterways

The California based AMA Waterways (formerly Amadeus waterways) is one of the newest entrants in the world of river cruising. With a fleet of 12 ships (including 2 entrants in 2010 and 2011), AMA’s modern fleet of ships offers spacious staterooms, regional cuisine, guided port stops, complimentary wi-fi and (on most ships) complimentary bikes with which to explore the local areas. Their staff is international and there is plenty of entertainment on board their ships. Besides exciting cruises on the Danube and Rhine, Mosel and Main, AMAWATERWAYS offers destination cruises to the breathtaking Porto River Valley in Portugal; a Provencal sojourn on the romantic Rhone river in France, and exciting cruises on the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Fellow passengers: Guests on AMA Waterways are generally well-travelled, more affluent and older.  They are largely English-speaking North Americans, Europeans and Australians.

AMA Waterways - Destinations

  • EUROPE Travel along the famous rivers of Europe with a Rhine and Danube river cruise and discover fascinating history and authentic experiences.
  • RUSSIA Explore bustling and excitement-packed Moscow, visit the enchanting Golden Ring cities of Uglich, Kostroma and Yaroslavl. You can cruise the Volga-Baltic Waterways and through Europe’s two largest lakes, Onega and Ladoga to St. Petersburg, one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
  • THE MEKONG RIVER In terms of length, it’s the 12th largest river in the world, but in terms of historic, cultural and ecological richness-the Mekong has no equal. The sagas of ancient empires, colonial powers and modern conflicts have unfolded along her banks. Temples, trade routes and fishing villages in the river’s path are today untouched by time, just as the way of life they represent. And nowhere are the river’s riches more apparent than in the neighboring-but distinct countries-of Vietnam and Cambodia.
