Headquartered in Austria, Lueftner Cruises is a privately owned company that operates a fleet of 9 first class river cruise ships. The ships of the Amadeus fleet operate along the Dutch and Belgian rivers, up and down the Rhine, Main, Moselle, Rhône, Saône and Danube. The relatively young boats feature modern, elegant décor overseen by Mrs Lueftner herself. Lueftner cruises off a wide range of activities on board and superb cuisine with free flowing wine. It is arguably one of the more affordable river cruises as it offers a more a-la carte pricing option. Guests can pick and choose their own excursions or purchase it all in a package. Their ships also offer complimentary bicycles for those who want to explore the shore on their own. Their ships are also one of the most environmentally friendly. English is the main language on board.
Most travellers on board Lueftner are well-travelled and tend to prefer experiential travel. They’re more likely to cycle on shore and get more involved in authentic experiences rather than simply sit on a coach and be shown around. The age group tends to be over 50 years.
